Drake - Look What You've Done (In Memory Of Drake's Grandmother Evelyn Sher)

Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful for the things and people we have in our lives. While the world was busy being thankful yesterday Drake was dealing with the loss of his grandmother, Evelyn Sher. Drake released the sad news via twitter as he tweeted......

His November 2011 album Take Care featured his grandmother on the track "Look What You've Done", where Bubby (a name Drake called his grandmother) expressed her gratitude for Aubrey in a voicemail at the end of the song saying.....
"Hi Aubrey, I'm here sitting with my son having a little talk and he knows how to get in touch with you now,
to let you know how grateful I am for your help in keeping me in this, in this comfortable place.
All I can say, Aubrey, is I remember the good times we had together
and the times I used to look after you And I still have wonderful feelings about that.
So God bless you, and I hope I'll see you.

Happy Anniversary - Drake : Take Care Album

Today marks the one year anniversary of the release of Drake's album Take Care, so I figured that me being who I am (the OVO Goddess) it is a must to celebrate the anniversary. On this very day last year I rushed out to buy this amazing album as soon as the music store opened, I was so excited like a kid on Christmas morning. The same time last year I also poured my mind out in the DrakeOVO post on my site that I wrote in honor of the release of Take Care, and Drake's The Source magazine cover. When I bought the album it was on repeat for months and even today I have to hear him at least once a day, its almost like a ritual. As far as Take Care, the album is one of the most type solid bodies of work I have ever heard in my entire life and definitely put a strong mark beside Drake's name for creating such a substantial piece of work. A few of my favorite songs from the album include the ones below.....Happy Anniversary TAKE CARE.....Mazel tov!

Lastly the Club Paradise tour was the highlight of my year, the show was an amazing experience and the best concert I have ever seen. French Montana, Meek Mill, Waka Flocka, 2 Chainz, J. Cole, and Drake all in one show, it does NOT get any better than that.
My dreams and wishes came true at Club Paradise..... XO

Rihanna On Ellen DeGeneres (November 14th)

Rihanna stopped by the Ellen show yesterday afternoon for a very comical chit chat with Ellen. The two hip and funny chicks chopped it up about Rih's very talked about dating life, her idols, being naked, and the two of them played the "Who Would You Rather Date" game. A very entertaining interview to say the least all while Rih is preparing for the release of her upcoming album Unapologetic dropping next week November 19th.

Throwback Thursday: Run-D.M.C. - Run's House

In honor of Rev Runs birthday yesterday I wanted to give the Throwback Thursday spot to Run D.M.C. and the groups hit "Run's House". The track comes from Run D.M.C.'s album  Tougher Than Leather and was the highest charting single from the album. The song was written and produced by member of the group Davy D, and was released in 1988. The song later became the theme song for Run's show Run's House on MTV.  Run D.M.C. has embedded such a legacy in music and especially Hip Hop and are known for breaking Hip Hop into mainstream music. The group became a phenomenon that will be remembered for years to come to music and fans of the Hip Hop genre everywhere.

Rihanna rocks yet another cover just in time for her new album Unapologetic that is due to drop November 19th. Melodic Monday: Jay Z - Young Forever - featuring Beyonce (Live at Coachella)

This song will NEVER get old especially the original version with Mr. Hudson. However, when I seen the performance that Hov and Bey had done at Coachella it gave me the goosies (goose bumps). "Young Forever" is the fourth single from Jay Z's Blueprint 3 and is a rework of Alphaville's 1984 classic "Forever Young". The song is produced by rapper and producer extraordinaire Kanye West. The video for the original version (featured below) was directed by the incredibly talented  Anthony Mandler and showcases youth in America, while flashing various scenes of Jay-Z performing the song with Mr. Hudson.

Throwback Thursday: Young Jeezy: My President

I felt as though I knew what the Throwback would be as of Tuesday, when Young Jeezy dropped his new visuals for his new election day celebration song "We Done It Again." I thought back to four years ago and to Jeezy's song "My President" and how much of an anthem it truly was at such a riveting time in history. "My President" is from Young Jeezy's album The Recession and also features Illmatic rapper Nas, while the official remix boast a feature from Jay Z. The visuals for this song depict such and incredible message and memory for the history of our country, that will forever be engraved in our minds.

Drake's Graduation Speech (Video)

The recent high school diploma recipient Drake recently took the stage at Toronto’s Jarvis Collegiate Institute to give an incredibly humble speech dedicated to his Mother. This makes me super proud and ubber emotional. During the speech the Hip Hop genius says "I reached a point in my life where I realized there aren't material things that can give me the excitement that I'm looking for, there's a void there's a gap in my life that I needed filled and I needed to sit and think long and hard what that it was and it was the fact that I left a gaping hole in my story of following through". "Sometimes its about going there not getting there, sometimes its the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination". He ended his speech with saying "I think I'll sleep better tonight knowing that I found a way to follow through". Such an incredible human being he is and it goes to show no matter a person's circumstances, some people still in fact do work hard to achieve the things they desire.

After Future brought the OvO King Drake out at Howard's Homecoming concert they flew back to ATL to work on a new effort. The new material did not make the cut in time for Future's upcoming album Pluto 3D, but hopefully we will hear it real soon. Drizzy did rave about Future's work ethic and revealed the two have recorded to a song produced by Boi-1da. I was so excited seeing this video because the duo performed "Tony Montana" and Drizzy's verse in that song was my favvvvvv.

Throwback Thursday: Mase - Welcome Back

I knew what my Throwback would be with the chaos of this last week and it leaving me no time to post, when I finally got back from all the adventures I have been on. Mase's "Welcome Back" is suitable for the occasion to welcome me back into my zone as I post away. The song welcomed Mase back to the game in 2004 after a 5 year break and was from his third album also titled Welcome Back. The song was just one of twelve tracks from the album that did not contain profanity or explicit lyrics after Mase had developed his newly Christian persona. I have said it before and I will say it again I love his style and the way he sounds is incredible, I hope the future holds new efforts and material from him.
