Kanye West Makes Baby Announcement (Atlantic City Show)

Last night Kanye announced at his show in Atlantic City that he and his girlfriend Kim Kardashian are expecting their first child together. The G.O.O.D. Music King stopped his performance to say " Can we make some noise for my baby mama real quick", the crowd went crazy as he let the exciting news out of the bag. This morning the net was a whirlwind for the late breaking news about the the pregnancy of the two megastars. The couples family and friends have since also took to social media outlets to let the couple know how happy they are for the pair. Kim also took to her personal blog to make an announcement of her very own saying, 

"It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo"

 I am a little late posting this track from singer first and reality star second Tamar Braxton, but I have to say I am absolutely in love with her new single "Love and War". The title track which also serves as the title of her upcoming album due out in February 2013 is Tamar's first project since 2000, and is definitely an incredible start to what seems will be a successful project. Though I usually write mostly about Hip Hop my world is not all about Hip Hop all the time, "music" is what makes my world go round, and this song is definitely spinning my world right about now!

Frank Ocean took to his Tumblr to give the world an early Christmas present by releasing "Wiseman",a track that was originally slated to appear on the soundtrack for  Quentin Tarantino’s new film, Django Unchained . However, Quentin said in a recent statement that...
"Frank Ocean wrote a fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way, there just wasn’t a scene for it. I could have thrown it in quickly just to have it, but that’s not why he wrote it and not his intention. So I didn’t want to cheapen his effort. But, the song is fantastic, and when Frank decides to unleash it on the public, they’ll realize it then."
So with the release we can definitely enjoy this beautiful Frank Ocean'esk balad.

Melodic Monday: Miguel "Adorn" (In-Studio Performance at Power 106)

  Twas the day of Melodic Monday and like any Monday I wanted to pick a really good song, one that really brings forth a beautiful melody or carries a tune that makes you have butterflies. I knew that which ever song I chose it had to be a good one and I also know that live performances are some of the best kind, with that being said I had to pick a song that I loved immensely and find the most amazing live version of it. Like so I did just that and I chose Miguel's "Adorn", the song is amazing original, live, it does not matter that man gives that song the business which ever way he sings it. I found the version he did live in the studio on Big Boy's Neighborhood for Power 106 and it blew me away, it was perfect for the Melodic Monday song.   On Sway In The Morning Ma$e reflects on the death and the "jewels" that the late B.I.G. gave him, his career and the "something more" about himself, and his relationship with members of Dipset now. There are always those people who are the reason why you began loving something in the first place and though Mase was not the first person or reason why I fell in love with Hip Hop, he is one of the poignant reasons as to why I do love Hip Hop. At that time he had been gaining recognition in the Hip Hop world but was still under the radar as one of the most slept on Hip Hop artists. A year later he has dropped his new track "Make It Happen" hailing from his new mixtape Closer Than You Think. These new efforts are a sure guarantee on Spits Nelson becoming a poignant staple in the world of Hip Hop music.

For the North Carolina native it was a moment of  sheer accomplishment I am certain and there are sure to be many more to come for this rising star. Throwback Thursday: B.I.G. - "Hypnotize"

 

With plenty of headlines being about B.I.G.'s autopsy this week and how the report was revealed some 15 years after the Hip Hop Icons death, I felt it was only right to give him my Throwback Thursday spot. This song was not all my idea for I am a bit under the weather so I had help deciding when a certain friend threw some ideas out, for me to grab none other than "Hypnotize" by the late B.I.G. The track "Hypnotize" was the first single from Big's Life After Death album and was produced by Sean "P Diddy" Combs who took the rhythm from "Rise", a Herb Alpert instrumental. Sixteen years later the song and its chorus is still embedded in my head as though I was memorizing it for the first time. Tragically the autopsy report stated that even though Big was hit 4 times it was only one bullet (the one that entered his left side and tore through his colon, liver, heart and left lung) that proved fatal and was the cause of 24 year old Christopher Wallace's death. I am grateful for songs like this Throwback Thursday clincher that he left behind, for it still makes him seem more alive today than when the song first dropped in 1996.

I however called on the help of a friend to help me decide and Rihanna's "Stay" was the spot clincher for the day. The song hails from her latest album Unapologetic which clinched the number 1 spot on the charts in its first week selling 238,000 copies, making it Rih's highest sales in a week up to this point in her career. The song is fitting for Melodic Monday boasting a feature from Mikky Ekko, who sounds absolutely sensational accompanying Rih on the track. Drake - Look What You've Done (In Memory Of Drake's Grandmother Evelyn Sher)



Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful for the things and people we have in our lives. While the world was busy being thankful yesterday Drake was dealing with the loss of his grandmother, Evelyn Sher. Drake released the sad news via twitter as he tweeted......

His November 2011 album Take Care featured his grandmother on the track "Look What You've Done", where Bubby (a name Drake called his grandmother) expressed her gratitude for Aubrey in a voicemail at the end of the song saying.....

 "Hi Aubrey, I'm here sitting with my son having a little talk and he knows how to get in touch with you now,
to let you know how grateful I am for your help in keeping me in this, in this comfortable place.
All I can say, Aubrey, is I remember the good times we had together
and the times I used to look after you And I still have wonderful feelings about that.
So God bless you, and I hope I'll see you."

Happy Anniversary - Drake : Take Care Album

 

Today marks the one year anniversary of the release of Drake's album Take Care, so I figured that me being who I am (the OVO Goddess) it is a must to celebrate the anniversary. On this very day last year I rushed out to buy this amazing album as soon as the music store opened, I was so excited like a kid on Christmas morning. The same time last year I also poured my mind out in the DrakeOVO post on my site that I wrote in honor of the release of Take Care, and Drake's The Source magazine cover. When I bought the album it was on repeat for months and even today I have to hear him at least once a day, its almost like a ritual. As far as Take Care, the album is one of the most type solid bodies of work I have ever heard in my entire life and definitely put a strong mark beside Drake's name for creating such a substantial piece of work. A few of my favorite songs from the album include the ones below.....Happy Anniversary TAKE CARE.....Mazel tov!

 

 



          Lastly the Club Paradise tour was the highlight of my year, the show was an amazing experience and the best concert I have ever seen. French Montana, Meek Mill, Waka Flocka, 2 Chainz, J. Cole, and Drake all in one show, it does NOT get any better than that. My dreams and wishes came true at Club Paradise..... XO

Rihanna On Ellen DeGeneres (November 14th)



 

  Rihanna stopped by the Ellen show yesterday afternoon for a very comical chit chat with Ellen. The two hip and funny chicks chopped it up about Rih's very talked about dating life, her idols, being naked, and the two of them played the "Who Would You Rather Date" game. A very entertaining interview to say the least all while Rih is preparing for the release of her upcoming album Unapologetic dropping next week November 19th.

Throwback Thursday: Run-D.M.C. - Run's House



 

In honor of Rev Runs birthday yesterday I wanted to give the Throwback Thursday spot to Run D.M.C. and the groups hit "Run's House". The track comes from Run D.M.C.'s album  Tougher Than Leather and was the highest charting single from the album. The song was written and produced by member of the group Davy D, and was released in 1988. The song later became the theme song for Run's show Run's House on MTV.  Run D.M.C. has embedded such a legacy in music and especially Hip Hop and are known for breaking Hip Hop into mainstream music. The group became a phenomenon that will be remembered for years to come to music and fans of the Hip Hop genre everywhere.
