Probably my favorite track from Jay Z's Magna Carta....Holy Grail album is his collaborated track "Holy Grail" featuring Justin Timberlake and now the visuals have arrived to give the song a whole different meaning for the title. Hov's new visuals were the first set of visuals to world premier on Facebook by a widely famous and known musical artist as well as having a 24 hour hold before the release to other music sites like Youtube and Vevo. Drake Releases Album Covers For "Nothing Was The Same" Album & Meaning Behind The Album & Artwork (UPDATED)

drake-nothing-was-the-same-standard

After having announced that his forthcoming album Nothing Was The Same would be delayed a week from September 17th to September 24th Drake gave us something that would make the bad news of the delay a little better, as he released the album cover for his upcoming effort. The covers were designed by illustrator, artist, and author Kadir Nelson who is known for his work in Sports Illustrated, beverage company Coca-Cola, and The New York Times to name a few. The artist who is the creator of the cover for Michael Jackson's posthumous 2010 album Michael created 2 album covers for Drake's upcoming album one for the regular version of the album that represents a young Drake with a curly fro and a comb stuck in his hair and the other cover for the deluxe edition representing Drake in the present form with his grown up good looks, his perfect hair line, and features that fit him to the T. Drake who made the announcement of the album delay also made the announcement that he would be performing at the upcoming MTV VMA's at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York this Sunday August 25th.  Drizzy has yet to release a tracklisting for  his new album Nothing Was The Same but it has been confirmed that the album will host features from  Noah “40″ Shebib, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Hudson Mohawke, and Hit-Boy.

New Music: Big Sean Feat. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica - “Control" & "Hall of Fame" Tracklisting

big-sean-hof-standard

If I woke up to the world talking about this track then everyone else did also. Big Sean delivered his latest effort "Control" last night as he allowed Funk Master Flex of Hot 97 to premier the track that was heard around the world. The gem enlisting features from Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica was a cut that did not make the tracklisting to Sean's upcoming Hall of Fame album, but still has everyone chattering. The track may belong to Big Sean but Kendrick cleaned the clock with his verse, even calling the G.O.O.D. Music guy out in his own song taking the shine this time. Kendrick's whole verse is sick but the lyric that has people talking is when he called his fellow rapper friends out saying,

"I’m usually homeboys with the same ni**as I’m rhymin’ with/ But this is hip-hop and them ni**as should know what time it is. And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T, Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron, Tyler, Mac Miller/ I got love for you all, but I’m tryna murder you ni**as/ Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you ni**as/ They don’t wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you ni**as."

I think it is safe to say that Kendrick dropped the mic after this verse. You can find the tracklisting for Sean's Hall of Fame album below. Also Hall of Fame is available for pre-order on iTunes NOW and is scheduled to drop August 27th.!

Ma$e Attends The 4th Annual OVO Fest With Drake & Diddy

Drake has always been a fan of Ma$e and he even said in an interview once that when he first got into the game that if wanted to sound like someone he would want to sound like Ma$e and Loon. This year he was able to kick it with one of those people that he drew inspiration from at his 4th annual OVO Festival in Toronto when Ma$e joined him for the evening. The Toronto native and Harlem native kicked it  before Ma$e took the stage with Diddy. The two talked about Ma$e possibly getting back into the game and maybe even joining his OVO label, as there have been some rumors in circulation about the rapper joining Drake's new label recently. Drake took to an interview to confront the rumors and tell about the time with the former Bad Boy rapper.

Untitled

Drake was not the only person Ma$e kicked it with during the OVO Festival last week as Ma$e was actually there to reunite with Bad Boy front man Diddy. Drake was solely to thank for the reunion as he brought Ma$e and Diddy back together for the first time in over 9 years, as they took the stage to perform. You can check the behind the scenes footage below of the reunion and scenes from the 4th OVO Festival.

Melodic Monday: Drake - "Cameras" & Jon B. "Calling On You"

As I put Drake's previous albums on play just to hold me and my drive me crazy anticipation over until the release of his new album Never Was The Same dropping on September 17th, I cannot help but want to listen to Take Care another one million times. Although all of his previous albums and mixtapes were type solid efforts Take Care still does something to me like it is my first time listening to it all over again. One of my favorite tracks on Take Care was the track "Cameras" where Drake actually sampled R&B singer Jon B's song "Calling On You", from Jon B's Pleasures You Like album. This bringing us to Melodic Monday and the track that fits according on this very Monday is Drake's "Camera's". The song still has Drake going steady at his lyrical pace with a mixture of his at times R&B tone, but it is the enlisting of Jon B's vocals over that bridge that gives it an all day melodic feel. Without Jon B's one there probably would not be the Drake's other unless it was a totally different song, so with that being said I have to give you both Drake's "Cameras" and Jon B's "Calling On You". I am giving both simply because Drake's "Cameras" would have never had those Jon B vocals from "Calling On You" if Jon B would have never created that song, and the two would have never complimented one another so very melodically the way in which they did.

Throwback Thursday: Biggie - "One More Chance" & Tupac "Life Goes On"

There was a debate or an Eastcoast/Westcoast feud the other day amongst some Americans, Canadians, and just plain Hip Hop fans as to who was better Biggie or Tupac? Not to offend anyone but who would have thought Canadians could argue about eastcoast and westcoast when they are almost at the north pole? At heart I believe I am a little Canadian because of Drake being from Canada but I will not make this about Drake making me somewhat Canadian. I will make it about the debate of Biggie and Pac. I almost lost my heart literally to hear people debating such because I had never made myself as a Hip Hop fan choose between Biggie and Tupac. In my opinion they were two totally different people that someone should not have to choose between. Biggie was the host of the eastcoast and my side of the world, and he was brilliant and iconic. Tupac was the host of the westcoast and taking us back to Cali Cali, and he was beautiful and could hit ones soul just having speak. There was a valid point made by a Canadian when someone said "Biggie was the better rapper if you are talking straight lyrical craziness and he had a better beat selection. Pac was the better rapper if you are talking about engaging the listeners emotions. Two legends but I pick B.I.G. as the greatest." After hearing that statement my logic was justified even more Biggie was brilliant with his lyrical sway and Pac was beautiful with his emotional sway. This bringing us to my Throwback Thursday pick and not being able to choose . Why choose if you can have both? Why pick between two of the best rappers that ever did live? I would have almost but I do not have to so for Throwback's sake I pick Biggie's "One More Chance" and Tupac's "Life Goes On". Both songs are iconic pieces of history left by both of these great men who have left behind two very different legacy's to HIp Hop that can be appreciated for various reasons, and by many different individuals whether you are from the eastcoast, westcoast, or Canada :). We can forever remember both of them for their own unique originality and the fact that they are two of the greatest rappers that ever lived. I am thankful for such music and gems, for it is these things that make music worth its while.

Together Again Jay Z and Dame Dash

The two of them together were a force to be reckoned with. Jay Z and Dame Dash build am empire known as Roc-A-Fella records in 1995 after numerous major record labels had passed Hov up in the signing game. They built a trailblazing stomping ground for artists such as Kanye West, Cam'ron, Jadakiss, N.O.R.E., and more. The duo went their separate ways in 2004 due indifferences with one another, but it left the Hip Hop world that had grown to love them wanting them together again. With some years passing and the two gentleman growing in their own lives one Jay Z the head honcho of Roc Nation, founder of Roc Nation Sports, and a certified sports agent, the other Dame Dash a former owner of Roc-A-Fella records, Rocawear, and now a mogul with a few financial pitfalls, the two manage to stay level headed about their departure from their former business venture. Time has finally brought the two back into the same room with one another as they attended the birthday party of a mutual friend last night and it looked as though they picked up right where they left off, as Dame had posted a pic to his Instagram of the two moguls. Both had previously taken to an outlet of some source to voice their opinions of one another in a positive manner conquering that it was still all love and respect between the two. Jay Z recently spoke out about he and Dame in an interview with Angie Martinez on Hot 97 saying...
"The thing we built , you can’t take that away so no matter what, the love is still there. Because what we’ve done will forever be stamped in history… We created something that’s gonna go down forever. So I can only have love for Dame. I just don’t know where we are in our life–We’re not the same two men at that time when we gelled in that way. I haven’t seen him in a while. I have ultimate confidence in him that he’ll find his way ’cause he’s an amazing and smart guy…. He’s a hustler and he’s highly intelligent, so I always root for him and always believe that he’ll find his way out of it. But I can’t control what happens life."

When I first seen the photo I almost lost it for a second cause it was a beautiful thing to see these two converse again and let life be life, and just happen. A dream came true. <3

Drake's OVO Fest was the concert of the summer and year hands down and that can be said partly because of the all star lineup the rapper had as apart of the show. New Music: Drake Feat. 2 Chainz & Big Sean - “All Me”

drake all me

OVO front man Drake started dropping clues via Twitter this past Sunday July 28th with his vague minimal worded tweets "All Me", "I Need You To Hear This", and "NWTS SEPT 17 17 17 17 17". Up until last night I am sure Drake had everyone thinking that those tweets was apart of  his usual tweeting behavior and they were, but they were also clues as to what he would unveil to the world last night. As the usual behavior tweets started rolling again last night from the "Started From the Bottom" rapper it was when he tweeted "Would You Like An Anthem? ovosound.com" that he let an epic tweet loose. That tweet was one that gave us the link to a simplistic site that was the host to his latest single "All Me", a title that we had heard once before just this past Sunday when he made that vague who really knew what he was talking about tweet. The new track "All Me" is the latest single from his upcoming album Nothing Was The Same that is slated to drop "SEPT 17 17 17 17 17". In the Key Wane-produced cut Drake called on two of his homie g's who are two of G.O.O.D. Music's finest to hold him down on the feature end as 2 Chainz and Big Seam deliver there original sounds to the new soon to be hit. Expect more from Drizzy in the coming weeks as his new album Nothing Was The Same will be dropping in just 47 days (YES I AM COUNTING). xo
