Why We Fell In Love Wedensday - Nas

Why did we fall in love with the Illmatic Hip Hop artist known as Nas? Why is it that even today years after he first introduced himself to the world do we still love him the same, if not even more. Nas is one of the greatest Hip Hop artists to ever pick up a mic and that is not debatable. The love the world has came to have for him has derived from his genius abilities to transcend life into lyrics that are relatable to not just his life but other people’s life as well. He has given us music that has been an innovative catalyst to Hip Hop keeping it ever so alive and growing. His first album Illmatic introduced us to a poetic keepsake that would change the game forever, while the album denoted as one of Hip Hop’s greatest albums if not the greatest album of all time. Nasir had eight more albums following laying the stepping stones of his journey including Nastradamus (1999), Street's Disciple (2004), and Hip Hop Is Dead (2006) all of which allowed growth for his monumental tenth album Life Is Good. In that very album as I listened I remembered WHY it was that Nas had become one of my favorite artists of all time. I also knew why the world had fallen in love with this Illmatic soul and it was because he knew just how to deliver music in a way people could relate, not just one person but a million people of different sort. He can create real and allow you to feel just what he is portraying, not many artists can do that. When the beat drops and you know he is about to spit that first bar just know that it will be something incredibly special, because he is NAS and that is why we fell in love with him.
