Throwback Thursday: Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell - Drop It Like It's Hot



All week long I have had Pharrell's voice in my head for Throwback Thursday and I was very indecisive on what song to choose. After debating I finally chose Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell "Drop It Like It's Hot". I can remember the beat and Pharrell killing his verse, even if it was Snoop's song. I remember waking up for for school and watching music videos every morning and this one in particular always playing before my day started. The song reached Billboard's Hot 100 and was number 1 for three straight weeks, making it Snoop's first number 1 on the chart. I feel as though you can always appreciate a good beat and a hot throwback.

Throwback Thursday: Hot Boys - I Need A Hot Girl

 

 

 

After hearing one of the local dj's Cash Money Throwback Mix on the local Hip Hop radio station I knew exactly what my Throwback Thursday would be. The group that came to mind was Hot Boys whose members consisted of Lil Wayne, B.G., Juvenile, Bulletproof and Turk and was apart of Cash Money Records. The year was 1999 and the song was "I Need A Hot Girl", the track is from the Hot Boys second studio album entitled, Guerrilla Warfare. Members of the Hot Boys Lil Wayne, B.G., and Turk wrote the song, which was produced by Mannie Fresh. Rapper and member Juvenile did not have a verse on the track but was featured in the video. The song also boast a feature from the the Big Tymers who was also in the video. A little embarrassed to say when this song came out I memorized ever word and I absolutely loved the Hot Boys. So funny how time changes everything.

After posting Drake's first self-released mixtape Room For Improvement, I also had to post his second mixtape Comeback Season just because I am on a Drake Run. After releasing Comeback Season in 2007, Drake became the first unsigned Canadian rapper to have his music video featured on BET when his first single from the mixtape, "Replacement Girl" was featured as the "New Joint of the Day". In 2008 just a year after the release of this mixtape, Lil Wayne heard some of Drake's music through a mutual friend and the rest is history.
